Here it is the last week in August already and school a week old and Sept just around the bend. We are working on our newsletter for the fall months. Lots of new ideas. If you have an idea its not too late to add a class that you suggest or one for a group of your friends.
We plan a club for the fall using the Ks. Trouble fabrics and patterns. We’ll meet as a group or you can pick up a kit. There is still time to enroll in the redwork block of the month–Winter Wonder Land.
We had some success with our strip camp this summer and have had request for more this fall so stay tunned. Pre cut strips are fast and fun to use. Often referred to as jelly rolls they are the best kind of rolls to have-no calories, no fat and that don’t give you rolls only great quilts.
Stop in and see us soon.

It’s 8:30 p.m. and I’m packing up things for the Topeka Capitol Quilters quilt show Saturday and Sunday. Susan and Wesley will set up tomorrow and Susan will attend on Sat and I go on Sunday and bring things home. It’s always a great time for us. We see so many of you and other quilters that we know from various parts of the state. I hope several of you will be able to attend.
Hope you all take note of our annual fall sale on the 21st and 22nd. We have many new beautiful fabrics. Wish I could sew all the time. I had a great time making the first project for the new Kansas Troubles club. I hope to make the 2nd project next week and have it ready for meet the teacher night. Note the new strip quilt. Much easier than it looks.
We had a surprise last Friday when we came to work. Wet floors in the classroom and office. Had all come in under the back wall. Took us (Wesly mainly) three days to get it cleaned up. Did wonders for my back room. Have a clean floor for once. Had 200 new fat quarters cut for the Topeka show seating against the back wall. So I guess you can look forward to some bargain fat quarters at the sale that I have already prewashed. We lost a couple of bolts and some scraps. It could have been much worse.
I’ve gone on tooooo long. See you soon!!

Gosh! November already.
We are having our Christmas Open House Nov. 9 & 10. So you know what is just around the corner.
We have lots of new fabrics. Many of which you have been or will be seeing in the national quilting magazines advertisements. One of my new favorites is “Spill the Beans” from Clothworks. The coffe drinkers in your life will love it. It was late in coming but from Timeless Treasures we have “Nature” a small collection of 10 bolts that features beautiful leaves in rust, purple and gold. We have quilts from both of these collections up in the shop. They are made with fast patterns but look impressive.
Into retro? Come see our newest collection from Michael Miller. Shades of aqua, brown and lime green. The bolts have names such as “daisy days” and “beatnik blur”. Susan has made up the free pattern into a twin size quilt. We’ve been selling alot of the collection so come in soon for your fix. Makes you want to start singing Beatles’ songs.
Autumn Journey by Ks. Troubles for moda is a great collection with lots of pumpkins, golds and browns in the traditional colors Lynn so often uses. We have jelly rolls and charm packets to support the group. (We’re going to give away 3 jelly rolls and pattern to use them from Lynn’s Christmas collection Snow Blooms at our open house as door prizes.) If you haven’t use a jely roll of precut 2 1/2 inch strips you need to you’ll love it. And it has no calories.
The shop as usual is stuffed full of new fabrics and gift ideas for the quilter on your Christmas list. We have the new ” Sidewinders” Never have to unthread your machine again to wind your bobbin, let the sidewinder do it for you. Pictures, socks, signs, calendars (both wall and pocket) mouse pads, notepads, key rings and books are all great stocking stuffers and we have several to choose from. Also have a few Jim Shore items.
Gift certificates are always the gift that fits.
Hope to see you soon and if I don’t enjoy Thanksgiving to the fullest

My new years resolution was to write on the blog more often. So thought I better start as its already the last day of January. January has been a busy month around here. We celebrated our 7th anniversary. Oh how well I remember those first day. We had 200 bolts of fabric and maybe a dozen books and patterns. I was so proud! Today we have more like 2000 bolts, a quilting machine that could run 24/7 , so many patterns I ask myself why I buy more. But I always was a sucker for more patterns. I like you have great plans to make them all. I guess optimism is a way of life for quilters.
We are presently enrolling people for our dollar block, inflation has raised the price to $1.50 but we have callled it the dollar block so long we can’t bring ourselves to call it the $1.50 block, just doesn’t have the same ring. Tomorrow we will start to pass out the first directions for our 6 month mystery quilt. I am most anxious to see all the fabric choices made up.
We have several new pieces of fabric including Paddington Bear. He comes with a soft cover book to make on counting. The new Peter Rabbit pieces are here and there is a soft book on the alphabet. Both great baby gifts and oh so easy.
My new favorite is a collection called Daydreams from Moda it is in brown, turquoise and green. Has butterflies and great stripes for borders.
Love frogs? Come in and see the collection of Toad-ally Yours. Great home dec. Would make a great baby or childs room. One piece has double borders and would be a great summer tablecloth.
Before I close I want to thank all of you who have supported us this past 7 years and hope we can serve you quilting needs for at least 7 more.
Come see us soon!

MARKET!!! It was fab. However I am still worn out. Must be my age catching up with me. Could be the hours I’ve been putting in since I got back getting ready for shop hop June 5-8. Hope you have a car full of friends and are planning a visit.
Market was in Portland, Oregon. They have great light rail system that we rode everyday even to the airport. Our hotel was across the river from the convention center so we rode the trolley to get to the light rail. Was an experience for us country gals. Susan and Kathleen went with me.
We took classes three mornings and have several ideas for classes. Otherwise we shopped until we almost dropped. There are around 700 vendors and it took us two days to see all the booths and then after sleeping on a few ideas we back tracked the third day.
Of course I found several things I wanted to bring home for shop hop and guess what Leroy and Silve Hirsch from Triangles on a Row were one of the vendors and they were on their way to Brown County for Leroy’s class reunion and in their fifth wheel they brought our things. If you have flown recently you know what a mess it is to carry anything on much less pay for the pounds and extra bags. Not to mention getting my two new knees through security. Thanks again Silva and Leroy. Be sure and see their new pointy border piecing paper we bought.
Patterns, books and blocks of the month were our main focus. We found plenty. I’m anxious to share them with you. There were hundreds of new fabrics. Even some new companies. For us we are like kids in a candy store.
Christmas has began to arrive!! Red Birds from Marus Brothers is the first.
Kansas Troubles complete Christmas collection is on its way. I’m anxious for you to see the fall Ks. Troubles collection. Lynn has added large prints plus a demin blue. Still goes with the other collections but gives us chance to add a different look.
I must stop and work on the great wall hangings (with matching hangers) I got from Patch Abilities. I promised myself I’d have them done for shop hop.
More soon!
